Suzlon Group has inked a 50.4 MW wind turbine order from an undisclosed independent power producer (IPP) in India.

A repeat customer for Suzlon, the IPP has ordered 24 units of Suzlon’s new S111 120-meter hybrid wind turbines, each with a rated capacity of 2.1 MW. The S11X 2.1 MW platform features Suzlon’s doubly fed induction generator technology, which is designed to optimally harness available wind resources.

Located in Karnataka, the project will be completed by June, says Suzlon, which will execute the entire project on a turnkey basis and provide operations and maintenance services. The wind farm has the potential to provide power to over 27,000 households, according to Suzlon.

“The project will see the first batch of our new S111 120-meter hybrid wind turbine generator being installed on a commercial scale,” notes J.P. Chalasani, group CEO of Suzlon.
