The Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) says a new national poll it conducted shows strong support among Americans for President Barack Obama's recently announced Climate Action Plan.
The poll found that 61% of Americans back the president's plan, which calls for measures to help battle climate change, including increasing renewable energy investments and cutting carbon pollution.
The NRDC says 78% of Americans support increasing investment in renewable energy sources such as wind, solar and hydroelectric power, while 65% of Americans endorse setting limits on carbon pollution from the U.S.' power plants.
