On May 1, Gov. Ted Strickland, D-Ohio, signed into law Senate Bill 221, an energy reform bill designed to ensure affordable energy prices and enhance energy industries in Ohio. In a statement at the bill signing, Strickland said the bill met his goals for transforming the structure of Ohio's electric industry.
The law establishes a renewable portfolio standard for the state's electric distribution utilities to obtain 25% of retail electricity from ‘alternative energy resources’ by 2025.
