Wapsipinicon Wind Project, an enXco subsidiary, will develop and build a 100.5 MW wind farm subject to usual approvals. The wind farm, located in Mower County, Minn., will sell all generated electricity to the Southern Minnesota Municipal Power Agency (SMMPA). The turbines are planned to be in commercial operation on Dec. 31 and are expected to generate about 335,000 MWh of electricity annually.

‘The SMMPA member cities know that renewable energy, combined with wise use of energy, is an extremely important part of our plan to meet our energy needs,’ says Ray Hayward, SMMPA CEO. ‘In Minnesota, wind energy will play an increasingly important role. This purchase further demonstrates the SMMPA cities' commitment to provide reliable and affordable electricity in an environmentally responsible manner.’
