Siemens Energy has been awarded a contract to deliver 80 SWT-3.6-120 wind turbines for the DanTysk offshore wind project located in the North Sea. The customer is the DanTysk Offshore Wind GmbH, in which Vattenfall Europe and Stadtwerke Munchen have a 51% and 49% stake, respectively. Vattenfall will build and operate the wind project.
Installation of the turbines is scheduled to begin in 2012, and the 288 MW project is expected to be commissioned between 2013 and 2014.
The DanTysk wind project will be constructed about 70 km west of the island of Sylt, near the maritime boundary with Denmark. Siemens will be responsible for the installation and commissioning of the 80 wind turbines. Each turbine has an output of 3.6 MW and a rotor diameter of 120 meters. In addition, Siemens signed a service, maintenance and warranty agreement for the units.
