Siemens Energy has received an order for 43 of its 2.3 MW SWT-2.3-101 wind turbines for the Greenwich wind energy project near Thunder Bay, Ontario. The purchaser is Renewable Energy Systems (RES) Canada Inc., an affiliate of RES Americas. Once completed, the wind farm will have an installed capacity of about 100 MW. Siemens plans to begin installation of the 43 wind turbines in June 2011.
In November 2009, Siemens was also contracted to supply 43 SWT-2.3-101 wind turbines for RES Canada's Talbot wind energy project near Chatham, Ontario. The scope for both wind energy plants includes the supply and commissioning of the wind turbines, as well as a five-year service, maintenance and warranty agreement.
