Siemens has received a 72 MW order for the supply, installation and commissioning of a total of 24 direct-drive wind turbines for four wind projects located in northern France.
Diamond Generating Europe Ltd. and EDF Energies Nouvelles are the project investors, each with 50% ownership. The model SWT-3.0-101 wind turbines ordered for these projects each have a capacity of 3 MW and a rotor diameter of 101 meters.
Siemens notes that this marks the first order from France for its gearless wind turbines. Erection and commissioning are scheduled for 2014. Siemens is also responsible for maintenance of the turbines over a period of 15 years.
