Siemens will supply 141 units of its 2.3 MW turbines for the Biglow Canyon Wind Farm Phases II and III in Sherman County, Oregon. The purchaser is Portland General Electric Co. (PGE).

Phase II of the project is scheduled to be operational in late 2009, and Phase III is expected to be online in late 2010. The Siemens scope of supply consists of delivery, installation and commissioning of the 141 SWT-2.3-93 wind turbines with a capacity of 2.3 MW each, including a five-year warranty and separate service and maintenance agreement.

‘Wind power is a rapidly growing source of electricity in the U.S., and the two major orders from Washington and Oregon will strengthen our position as one of the leading suppliers to the world's largest market for wind turbines,’ says Andreas Nauen, head of Siemens' wind business.
