Siemens has received an order to continue providing service and maintenance at the Korat 1 and Korat 2 wind projects, located in the Nakorn Rachasrima province, in northeastern Thailand. The 13-year agreement is the first wind service extension for Siemens in Thailand.
The customers of Korat 1 and Korat 2 are K.R. Two Co. Ltd. and First Korat Wind Co. Ltd., respectively. Both companies are subsidiaries of one of Thailand’s largest renewable energy independent power producers, Wind Energy Holding Co. Ltd.
Siemens will install its power curve upgrade, part of the company’s “Digital Services for Energy” portfolio, to all 90 SWT-2.3-101 wind turbines.
According to Siemens, the Korat 1 and Korat 2 wind farms – at 207 MW – are the largest in Thailand. In addition, the two wind farms were the first utility-scale wind projects in the country. The turbines have been serviced and maintained by Siemens since they began commercial operations.
By adding modifications such as DinoTails, DinoShells or vortex generators, Siemens says it can achieve a power output increase of 2%-5% for the projects.
