Shell WindEnergy says it is stopping all development activity relating to the proposed 50 MW Bear River Ridge wind project, located in Humboldt County, Calif.
In a letter to the community, Shell says it is withdrawing from the project due to ‘unfavorable market conditions and issues pertaining to the transportation logistics’ of getting wind turbines into Humboldt County. Transporting the wind turbines into Humboldt County would have involved more than five miles of road construction, the company notes.
