SGS Industrial Services has announced that the SGS Wind Energy Technology Center (WETC) recently opened in Tianjin, China. The WETC is a third-party testing center for wind turbine rotor blades in Asia.
The center is located in the Tianjin Economic and Technological Development Area. The WETC includes technology for load application and blade test measurements, such as hydraulic winches, vibration actuators and LVDT displacement equipment.
‘SGS will now be able to provide best-in-class testing services for blade manufacturers in Tianjin and throughout Asia in an accessible and efficient way,’ says Richard Shentu, managing director of SGS. ‘This also contributes to the [research and development] escalation for wind turbine generator systems and components in China and throughout Asia.’
