Senvion Installs Turbines For EDF EN’s First Community Wind Farms In Quebec

0

Senvion has started to install wind turbines at EDF EN Canada's La Mitis and Le Granit wind farms, the developer's first community wind farms in Quebec.

Each project has a nameplate capacity of 24.6 MW and was awarded to EDF EN as a result of Hydro-Quebec Distribution's third call for tenders, which amounted to about 500 MW of community and First Nation wind projects. The projects are expected to be completed this fall.

In order to stimulate economic development and to gain revenues, the regional county municipalities La Mitis and Le Granit have invested in the wind farms, Senvion notes.

Senvion itself is no stranger to community wind. In Germany, Senvion's home market, wind turbines slated for community wind farms account for more than half of its order intake.
