Senvion, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Suzlon Group, has announced the installation of its 111th offshore wind turbine. The company says it reached this milestone with the 19th of 48 planned Senvion 6.2M126 turbines currently being installed at the 295 MW Nordsee Ost offshore wind farm.
Senvion adds that the remaining 29 turbines for Nordsee Ost are already pre-assembled apart from the blades, so the installation can be completed this fall. Then, the company says it will have delivered more than 800 MW of installed capacity offshore.
This year, Senvion will also install the prototype of its newest offshore turbine, the Senvion 6.2M152. The company says that because the machine has a larger rotor diameter of 152 meters compared to the Senvion 6.2M126's 126 meters, the energy yield at wind speeds of 9.5 m/s is increased by up to 20%.
