Senvion has inked an order worth over 203 MW for Trianel Windpark Borkum II, an offshore wind project to be installed 45 kilometers north of the island of Borkum in the German North Sea.

The conditional contract covers turbine delivery and service for the project, which will comprise 32 turbines from the Senvion 6.XM series. The agreement was signed with Trianel Windkraftwerk Borkum II GmbH & Co. KG.

With a power upgrade, the turbines – to be installed in a water depth of 25 to 35 meters – will produce around 800 million kWh of electricity every year, says Senvion.

After the planned completion in fall 2019, the offshore wind farm will be located close to the alpha ventus offshore wind farm, which started operations in 2009 and is equipped with six 5M 126 Senvion towers.

According to the current schedule, the final investment decision for Trianel Wind Farm Borkum II should take place in the first half of 2017. If so, construction would begin in early 2018.
