Second Phase Of Fowler Ridge Wind Farm Operational

BP Wind Energy and Sempra Generation have announced full commercial operation of the second phase of the Fowler Ridge Wind Farm in Benton County, Ind. Phase II of the project is located on a 17,000-acre site and has a capacity of 200 MW.

Built by Mortenson Construction, Phase II of the Fowler Ridge Wind Farm utilizes 133 GE SLE wind turbine generators, each with a rated capacity of 1.5 MW. A total of 400 workers were employed during peak construction, and nine full-time employees will monitor and maintain Phase II of the project.

BP Wind Energy operates the project through its wholly owned affiliate. The power from Phase II of the project has been sold under four long-term contracts, each of which is for 50 MW. Three contracts have been signed with operating units of American Electric Power and one contract with Vectren Energy Delivery of Indiana.
