Scout Clean Energy LLC – a portfolio company of Quinbrook Infrastructure Partners, an investor in low-carbon energy infrastructure – has secured a 20-year wind power purchase agreement (PPA) with the Minnesota Municipal Power Agency (MMPA).
MMPA will purchase the entire 200 MW of renewable energy capacity from the Three Waters Wind Farm, which will be constructed in Jackson County, Minn., on approximately 45,000 acres of land.
Developed from inception by Scout, the Three Waters project is expected to commence construction in 2021. The wind farm will comprise 71 GE 2.82 MW turbines with 127-meter rotors.
David Scaysbrook, co-founder and managing partner of Quinbrook, notes that the project represents Scout’s “first investment in Minnesota.”
“Three Waters is an important project for Quinbrook, and both we and Scout have many spent years in the planning phase, bringing the project through to this point,” he says.
Together, Quinbrook and Scout have expanded their utility-scale U.S. wind portfolio to over 2.3 GW of potential renewable power capacity, spanning 13 projects in 10 states. Quinbrook announced its acquisition of Scout two years ago.
