The Schaffner Group has signed an asset purchase agreement to acquire the dry-type transformers operations of MTC Transformers. Under the transaction, Schaffner is acquiring MTC Transformers' Wytheville, Va., production site, and its Roanoke, Va.-based sales office, as well as the MTC Transformers brand.
MTC Transformers specializes in the development, manufacturing and maintenance of transformers and other power magnetics. Its Wytheville operations focus on dry-type transformers for medium-voltage applications in the wind, solar and rail technology sectors.
