S&C Electric Co., a provider of equipment and services for electric power systems, has shipped its DSTATCOM volt ampere reactive (VAR) compensation system for installation at the Biglow Canyon Wind Project in Sherman County, Oregon.
Originally received in January, the VAR compensation system order includes transformers and switched capacitor banks, S&C says. Installation of the DSTATCOM is under way, and S&C expects that the unit will be in service this fall.
The Biglow Canyon project will be owned and operated by Portland General Electric.
