Ruling Allows Utility To Implement REP And EO Plans

The Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC) has approved a settlement agreement authorizing Upper Peninsula Power Co. to implement its renewable energy plan (REP), its energy optimization (EO) plans and surcharges as required by Public Act 295 of 2008.

The REP satisfies the requirements of Public Act 295. Because the utility does not expect to incur any additional costs under its REP, it did not request a REP surcharge.

The utility is authorized to implement the EO surcharge beginning July 1. The average residential electric customer using 500 kWh will see a monthly EO surcharge of $1.05.

The utility, Michigan Technological University and MPSC staff participated in the settlement proceedings.
