RMT Inc. recently joined First Wind for a community celebration to commemorate the start of commercial operations for the second phase of the Milford wind project.
RMT provided engineering, procurement and construction services for the 102 MW Milford II project, including the installation of 68 1.5 MW GE turbines. The company also was responsible for the entire construction scope and self-performed the civil work, which consisted of roads, crane paths and pads, and turbine foundations, as well as the turbine erection and mechanical completion.
‘This project was on time and on budget,’ says Michael Alvarez, president and chief financial officer at First Wind. ‘RMT remains an excellent partner for First Wind as, together, we're building projects that deliver clean, renewable energy to homes and businesses, while putting people to work and creating real economic opportunity.’
RMT also led the construction of First Wind's Milford I project in 2009. In addition, the company built First Wind's Kahuku wind project in Hawaii and is currently building the Sheffield wind project in Vermont.
