Madison, Wis.-based RMT Inc. has concluded construction work at the Locust Ridge II Wind Farm in Schuylkill and Columbia counties, Pa. Once operational, the development will provide 102 MW of energy to Pennsylvania residents.
As balance-of-plant contractor for the Locust Ridge II Wind Farm, RMT's WindConnect team provided construction of the civil and electrical services for the site, including building the substation/operations and maintenance building, collector system, and access roads to wind turbine locations; upgrading and improving existing mine roads; and constructing crane pads, crane paths, wind turbine erection, tower foundations and associated civil infrastructure.
The Locust Ridge II Wind Farm is owned by Iberdrola Renewables. Iberdrola Renewables also owns neighboring Locust Ridge I, which was constructed by RMT's WindConnect team in 2005-2006. The combined Locust Ridge I and II Wind Farms will deliver 128 MW to the PPL Corp.'s grid.
