Madison, Wis.-based RMT's WindConnect team recently completed the re-powering of the Edom Hills Wind Farm in Riverside County, Calif. Eight 2.5 MW Clipper Liberty turbines replaced 139 aging turbines, increasing the total capacity to 20 MW.

Project owner BP Wind Energy marked the facility's successful completion with a dinner reception in Palm Springs. RMT received a number of awards at the reception, including one for balance of plant contractor performance. In addition, RMT's Matt Kent and Scott Krzman each received BP's Pace Setter award for their efforts on the project. RMT's Brent Handell was also recognized with a leadership award.

‘Our team has once again demonstrated that they know what it takes to expedite these complex design-build projects.’ says Frank Greb, vice president and general manager of RMT's WindConnect group.

RMT's WindConnect team played a key role in upgrading this 23-year old wind farm, including the disassembly of the existing tower foundations and associated infrastructure. The company was also responsible for engineering, procurement and construction of the new 34.5 kV collection system and upgrade of the 115 kV interconnection substation, as well as the construction of access roads, foundations and turbine erection.
