Renewable Energy Systems (RES), an independent renewable energy project developer, has been awarded a five-year contract to provide operations and maintenance (O&M) services for Walney 1’s offshore transmission assets owned by Blue Transmission Walney 1 Ltd. (BTW1L).
As reported, the Walney 1 offshore wind farm has a capacity of 183.6 MW and is located off the coast of England.
In addition to providing the scheduled and unscheduled maintenance of the equipment, the contract will see RES apply its expertise in asset and site management, logistics, subsea surveys, and control center services.
A spokesperson for BTW1L says, “Following a competitive bidding process, RES was selected due to their open and collaborative approach, as well as its deep understanding of engineering, technical and operational matters in the offshore wind industry.”
Filippo Di Salle, RES O&M general manager, comments, “Winning our first long-term maintenance contract on an operating offshore wind farm is a great achievement for RES. We’ve been able to use our 10 years’ expertise in the operation and maintenance of offshore wind farms to great effect in successfully winning this project.”
RES says it has operations across Europe, the Americas and Asia-Pacific, having developed and/or built more than 12 GW of renewable energy capacity worldwide. RES is active in a range of renewable energy technologies, including both onshore and offshore wind, and enabling technologies such as energy storage and transmission.
