Renewable Energy Systems (RES) has been selected by Avangrid Renewables to construct a 200.85 MW wind farm in Gilliam County, Ore.
RES’ construction role begins this month, and the project – comprising Vestas wind turbines – is expected to begin commercial operations in September 2019. The construction contract represents phase one of the overall 404 MW Montague Wind Farm.
“RES is delighted to be working with Avangrid Renewables to deliver phase one of the Montague wind project,” says Rick Ortiz, RES’ senior vice president of wind construction. “We are committed to creating and maintaining lasting relationships with the communities in which we work and will use local resources wherever possible, as well as hiring qualified local workers.”
“Working with an accomplished construction partner like RES who understands our commitments to safety and the local community is important as we continue work on our 10th Oregon wind farm,” adds David Carroll, Avangrid Renewables’ vice president of projects. “We’ll be able to deliver another competitive product to our customers while supporting farmers and the surrounding area with substantial economic benefits.”
