U.K.-based RES Offshore and Spain-based Global Energy Services (GES) have signed a strategic alliance agreement to provide asset management and operations and management (O&M) services to the offshore wind industry.
The partners say the global offshore wind market is evolving: Early projects are coming out of initial warranty periods, and non-utility investors have begun to take ownership positions in operational projects. The partners say the new alliance addresses these changes by creating the resources and capabilities to provide services at scale and safely through one team.
Jim Sandon, chief operating officer of RES Offshore, says, "GES stands out as a leading company in the installation and maintenance of wind farms around the world. With more than 3,000 staff maintaining over 12 GW of assets, they are providing reliable on-site delivery at volume. Our offshore and engineering expertise unlocks the market for GES to deploy their considerable experience."
Through the alliance, clients can access asset management and O&M services for wind turbines and balance of plants, including transmission assets. The alliance will also be able to deliver and/or manage blade inspections and maintenance campaigns, major repairs and retrofits, subsea surveys, condition monitoring, and reliability and control room services through a 24/7 control room.
