REpower USA Corp., a subsidiary of REpower Systems AG, will supply nine 2 MW, class MM92 wind turbines to project developer Heritage Sustainable Energy LLC. The turbines, with a total output of 18.45 MW, are slated for the Stoney Corners II wind project in Michigan and are expected to be installed by the third quarter of 2010.
The contract also provides an option for delivery of another 10 REpower MM92 turbines by September 2010.
‘Between 2010 and 2012, Heritage is planning to construct further projects in Michigan with the goal of building 400 MW to 500 MW in the next few years,’ says Marty Lagina, CEO of Heritage Sustainable Energy.
Turbines delivered for the Stoney Corners II wind project will have a hub height of 100 meters. REpower's previous projects in the U.S. have utilized hub heights of 80 meters.
REpower USA is also supplying seven MM92 wind turbines for the Stoney Corner I project, which is currently under construction and expected to be completed by the end of the month, according to the company.
