REpower Systems AG, a Hamburg, Germany-headquartered manufacturer of wind turbines, has officially opened new production space at its manufacturing site in Trampe, northeast of Berlin.
To meet increasing global wind turbine demand, the company expanded each of its existing manufacturing halls in Trampe at a cost of 1.2 million euros. Previously, the Trampe facility had an annual production capacity of about 150 wind turbines. Now, six wind energy turbines can be manufactured weekly – doubling the annual production capacity, REpower says.
The Trampe production site will hire 30 additional employees, according to Fritz Vahrenholt, CEO of REpower, who spoke at the opening ceremony for the expanded manufacturing space.
