PYCO Industries, a manufacturer of cottonseed oil and other cottonseed products, has announced plans to construct a 10 MW wind farm located at one of their Lubbock, Texas. facilities.
‘We were searching for a way to insulate ourselves from volatile energy prices in order to ensure our long-term survival,’ says Gail Kring, president of PYCO. ‘Over the life of this project, PYCO expects to reduce its energy cost by 40 percent, and none of the electricity PYCO generates will be sold back to the utility.’
HD of China will manufacture the wind turbines for the PYCO project. The Texas-based wind project marks HD's entry into the U.S. market.
