Pacific Gas and Electric Co. (PG&E), a San Francisco-based utility, has entered into a 15-year agreement with PPM Energy, a Portland, Ore.-based developer of wind power projects, to purchase renewable wind energy from PPM's Klondike III Wind Project in Sherman County, Oregon.
The Klondike project – currently under construction – will deliver up to 85 MW of renewable energy to PG&E's customers, according to the utility.
This agreement follows a 15-year wind energy contract signed by PG&E and PPM Energy in 2006 whereby PG&E began delivering energy from the Shiloh Wind Power Project in Solano County, California. In addition, Puget Sound Energy (PSE), a Bellevue, Wash.-based electric utility, recently signed a 20-year contract with PPM to acquire 50 MW of power output from Klondike III.
