Germanischer Lloyd has certified PPG Industries for technical competence in the field of mechanical and analytical testing for its Suzhou, China-based science and technology center.
Cheswick, Pa.-based PPG notes the certification demonstrates its mechanical and analytical testing capabilities for the composites used in wind turbine blades.
Established in 2007, the center offers equipment for fabricating fiber-reinforced plastic products and testing composites for static and dynamic mechanical properties using International Organization for Standardization, American Society of Testing and Materials and Chinese national Guobiao standards.
