Six months after the installation of its first U.S. turbine at the Berkshire East ski resort in Massachusetts, PowerWind GmbH says it is planning to expand its presence in the U.S. community-scale wind market.
Over the next 12 months, the German manufacturer plans to supply more than 10 wind turbines to local project developers in New England and the Midwest. The next two turbines will be delivered to Performance Services Inc.
The Indianapolis-based firm and PowerWind have signed a framework agreement for the delivery of several PowerWind 56 units, including a 900 kW turbine that is scheduled to be installed on the campus of Tippecanoe Valley School Corp. in Akron, Ind., this summer.
