Pipeline Engineering Providing Cable Protection System For Offshore Wind Farm

0

Pipeline Engineering, a brand of Circor Energy, says it has won a multimillion-dollar contract with E.ON to supply its PEFLEX subsea cable protection system for the Humber Gateway Offshore Wind Farm. All components will be manufactured and supplied this year.

Located approximately 8 km off the Yorkshire Coast in the U.K., the 219 MW wind farm will consist of 73 turbines. Construction of the wind farm is under way, with completion scheduled for 2015.

According to Pipeline Engineering, the wind farm turbine towers and substations are interconnected via subsea array cables and subsea export cables, which require protection from movement due to wave action and other turbulence across the exposed monopile scour zone.

‘The Humber Gateway Project is a significant opportunity for Pipeline Engineering to further progress our expansion into offshore wind energy,’ notes Andrew Marwood, the company's commercial leader.
