Northern Power Systems Inc. says its 2.3 MW permanent-magnet direct-drive wind turbine, the NPS 2.3, has completed dynamometer testing at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, marking the official launch of the product in the North American market.
Northern Power, which has also introduced a new 100-meter rotor option for the NPS 2.3, put the initial prototype of the turbine in commercial operation in Michigan in January. Following its recently closed second order, the company says it is engaged in ‘active negotiations with numerous customers for additional NPS 2.3 orders.’
