Republican vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan has voiced his support for Romney's opposition to the wind energy production tax credit (PTC).
According to a report from CBS News, Ryan told local Iowa television station KCCI that he did not believe in permanent tax breaks for the wind power industry. Later, his campaign spokesperson clarified that Ryan wants the PTC to expire at the end of this year.
The PTC has become a hot-button election issue in Iowa, which is second in the nation in installed wind energy capacity. Iowa Sen. Chuck Grassley – a Republican – supports the PTC. In fact, he was the author of the first-ever PTC legislation, enacted in 1992.
