OSIsoft, producers of performance management software, has donated a PI System and 30 client licenses to the North American Wind Research and Training Center (NAWRTC) at Mesalands Community College.

‘This donation will allow the college to begin implementing the research portion of the North American Wind Research and Training Center,’ says Phillip Barry, president of Mesalands. ‘It will provide sophisticated data that can be used in research applications in major national labs, such as Sandia, and major universities across the U.S.’

The PI System at NAWRTC collects information from 500 data points, including the temperature, wind speed, current and voltage output, mechanical data, electrical information, and vibration of the center's 1.5 MW wind turbine.

Data will be analyzed for trends, which can be used in preventive maintenance. The 30 PI System client applications will enable Mesalands students to monitor 20,000 actual or calculated data points, according to OSIsoft.
