Twenty-five large-scale wind and solar projects have been awarded feed-in-tariff (FIT) contracts by the Ontario Power Authority (OPA).

These projects will be brought online through the Bruce to Milton reinforcement project, Ontario's largest transmission project in 20 years. The projects will be located in southwestern Ontario along the Bruce to Milton transmission line.

‘These projects will create more good jobs for Ontario families and provide new, clean power for local communities to grow and prosper,’ says Brad Duguid, Ontario's minister of energy.

The FIT contract offers consist of 14 wind projects in the Bruce area totaling 750 MW. In the area west of London, there are five wind projects totaling 268.4 MW and six solar wind projects totaling 27.5 MW.

At peak construction, 450 people are expected to be working on the Bruce to Milton transmission project, according to the OPA.
