Ontario Joins Renewable Energy And Energy Efficiency Partnership

Ontario has become the first province in Canada to join the international Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Partnership (REEEP), according to the office of Energy Minister Dwight Duncan.

REEEP is a global public-private partnership that develops clean energy initiatives. The organization is funded through national governments and is supported by financial and business professionals and non-government organizations across the world.

Ontario's renewable energy milestones include contracting to increase its wind energy capacity by 800% in just over three years and developing the first standard offer program for renewable energy tariffs in Canada, Duncan's office notes.

‘We share a common goal with REEEP's over 200 partner organizations – supporting renewable energy and energy efficiency,’ says Duncan. ‘Our membership will allow Ontario to contribute to international policy dialogue on clean energy and help address barriers to clean energy both in Ontario and globally.’
