Oncor Sponsors Southwest Minority Supplier Development Council

Austin, Texas-based Oncor Electric Delivery Co. LLC and the Southwest Minority Supplier Development Council (SMSDC) are sponsoring an educational networking event on June 30, for representatives from ethnically owned businesses and corporations across Texas.

The event is designed to help integrate minorities into the supply chain of various energy industries by gaining certification from the National Minority Supplier Development Council.

‘Now more than ever, this type of business networking is important for businesses across the board – not just for minorities,’ says Eva Leos, vice president of the SMSDC. ‘SMSDC helps corporate America work with hundreds of minority-owned suppliers who have innovative products and services, quicker just-in-time services available, and greater flexibility to customize their services.’

Earlier this month, Oncor signed a multi-million dollar contract with Weaver Construction, a certified Women's Business Enterprise in Snyder, Texas, to complete dirt construction work on approximately 20 substation sites related to Competitive Renewable Energy Zones.
