Mainstream Renewable Power and its joint-venture partner Alberta Wind Energy Corp. have obtained regulatory approval from the Alberta Utilities Commission to construct and operate the 46 MW Oldman II Wind Farm. Located in Alberta on private farmland, the project is expected to consist of 20 2.3 MW turbines and the associated collector lines and substation.
The wind farm substation is currently in the approval process, and both parties are working together with the Alberta Electric System Operator to finalize its configuration. The substation review process is expected to be completed in the near future and will not impact the project's construction schedule, according to Mainstream. The company anticipates that construction will begin in 2011.
