Regulators in Ohio have granted permission to a Horizon Wind Energy subsidiary to construct a 150.4 MW wind project in Paulding County.

The Ohio Power Siting Board granted approval to Paulding Wind Farm II LLC for its Timber Road II wind farm on 15,000 acres in Benton and Harrison townships, located in northwestern Ohio.

According to the siting board, Paulding Wind Farm plans to use up to 98 turbines capable of producing up to 1.8 MW each.

Following a public hearing in September, 60 conditions were set for the wind developers to meet in building and operating the wind farm, including measures to mitigate noise and environmental impacts.

The Timber Road II wind farm will help fulfill Ohio's renewable portfolio standard that calls for 12.5% of the state's electricity to come from renewable sources by 2025.
