The Ontario Energy Board (OEB) has issued an order granting an application by Canadian Renewable Energy Corp. to construct transmission facilities connecting its Wolfe Island wind farm to the transmission grid.
The project involves the construction of approximately 12.1 kilometers of single-circuit 230 kV underground and submarine electricity transmission line and associated facilities. The transmission line would extend from a new transformer station on Wolfe Island to the Hydro One Networks Inc. Gardiner transformer station, where it will connect with existing Hydro One 230 kV transmission lines.
Canadian Renewable Energy Corp. has entered into a 20-year contract with the Ontario Power Authority to construct and operate the 198 MW Wolfe Island project. The transmission line is needed to connect the Wolfe Island generation facilities to the Hydro One transmission grid to transport power.
