NYSE Euronext, a global operator of financial markets, has announced that it is making the entire company carbon-neutral by purchasing renewable energy certificate (RECs) and carbon offsets that neutralize the remaining environmental impact of the company's global operations.
This year's purchase makes NYSE Euronext carbon-neutral for 2010. The RECs and carbon offsets, which are Green-E certified, have been purchased retroactively from 3Degrees.
