The trustees of the New York Power Authority (NYPA) have awarded a $6.6 million multiyear contract to Syracuse, N.Y.-based Northland Associates for the design and construction of a large-scale distributed wind project at the State University of New York (SUNY) at Canton.
According to the NYPA, the first phase involves the overall design and permitting of the project. Pending successful completion of phase I, Northland will receive further authorization to proceed to the second phase, which entails the actual construction of the project.
The SUNY project was part of $25 million in contracts the NYPA awarded to several energy projects, including those pertaining to hydroelectric and natural-gas generation.
