The New York State Public Service Commission (PSC) has authorized the construction and operation of two wind energy projects in the towns of Cohocton and Avoca in Steuben County, NY. The proposed facilities will have a combined electric generating capacity of 127.5 MW.

In conjunction with granting Certificates of Public Convenience and Necessity (CPCN) authorization, the PSC plans to impose conditions on the Cohocton and Dutch Hill projects to ensure safe, reliable and adequate service using the wind turbines, the commission adds.

An environmental review conducted pursuant to the State Environmental Quality Review Act, Article 8 of the Environmental Conservation Law found that additional environmental mitigation measures will be required by the town of Cohocton.
