NRG Energy Inc. has completed the purchase of the South Trent wind farm, located near Sweetwater, Texas. The 101 MW wind farm, which came online in January 2009, consists of 44 2.3 MW Siemens wind turbines.
The South Trent acquisition was announced in March and was approved by the Public Utility Commission of Texas last week. AEP Energy Partners Inc. has a 20-year power purchase agreement for all of the generation from the site.
South Trent is the fourth plant in NRG's onshore wind portfolio.
