NREL Seeks Industry Input About Trends In Renewable Energy Financing

The U.S. Department of Energy's National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) is seeking input from energy developers and financiers as part of an ongoing effort to collect and share quantitative data on renewable energy financing terms and to assess barriers to renewable energy development.

The current Renewable Energy Finance Tracking Initiative (REFTI) questionnaire – for projects financed during the first half of this year – is available online through Aug. 18 at

‘By sharing information through this quick, confidential questionnaire, renewable energy developers help illuminate finance trends and provide critical marketplace feedback on the importance or effectiveness of various policies and incentives,’ says Mike Mendelsohn, NREL's project manager for REFTI.

To encourage participation in the financial tracking project, NREL says it has made several improvements to its REFTI questionnaire and reports, including shortening and focusing the questionnaire, issuing biannual instead of quarterly questionnaires and improving data accessibility via an indexed spreadsheet.
