Chicago-based Nordex USA Inc. has completed the Highland Wind Farm in Pennsylvania for EverPower Wind Holdings Inc. The project connects 25 of Nordex's N90 2.5 MW wind turbines to the grid in Pennsylvania for a total installed capacity of 62.5 MW.
According to Nordex, the Highland project is one of the first wind farms in the U.S. that utilizes 2.5 MW wind turbines.
Nordex USA plans to manufacture future 2.5 MW turbines at its new plant in Jonesboro, Ark. Construction of the 115,000 square-foot nacelle production site has begun, and a ground-breaking ceremony is planned for September.
