Nordex has won a new contract from wpd europe GmbH to supply the 36 MW Jokela wind farm, located close to the town of Kalajoki, Finland.
The deal includes the delivery and installation of 12 N117/3000 Generation Delta wind turbines, each of which features a hub height of 141 meters and an installed nominal output of 3 MW. Nordex says the model has been specially designed for medium wind speeds, and the company will install cold-climate versions in light of weather conditions prevailing at the site. The agreement includes a 15-year premium service contract, and the Jokela wind farm is t slated for construction in mid-2015.
Jokela is wpd's second project in Finland with Nordex. Earlier this year, the developer placed an order for 11 of Nordex's N117/3000 turbines for the Makikangas wind farm.
"On the basis of their technical specifications, the N117/3000 turbines are a very good fit for the local weather conditions, and we are eagerly awaiting the preliminary results following the start-up of our Makikangas wind farm," comments Birgit Schneider, the country manager at wpd responsible for Finland and Sweden.
