U.K. wind farm developer RES has awarded Nordex two new contracts for a combined 17 wind turbines with a total capacity of 42.5 MW.
Nordex will be supplying seven N100/2500 turbines for the Turncole wind farm in Essex. With delivery scheduled for July 2016, the turbines will be fully operational in January 2017.
The second project, Minnygap, is located in Dumfries and Galloway in southwestern Scotland. Nordex will be supplying 10 N100/2500 turbines starting next August. The wind farm, with a capacity of 25 MW, will also be going online in January 2017.
Both sites are characterized by moderate wind speeds; consequently, says Nordex, the N100/2500, which is designed for wind class IEC 2, is well suited for these projects. Nordex will be installing the turbines on 75-meter towers at both wind farms and providing service for five years.
