Nordex USA Inc. and Akuo Energy have announced plans to build a new wind farm in southern Uruguay, about 100 km from the capital city of Montevideo.
The project will feature 21 Nordex N117/2400 2.4 MW wind turbines with 91-meter towers. Nordex will be responsible for the delivery, installation and commissioning of the wind turbines, as well as for their ongoing maintenance for a minimum of 10 years.
Nordex notes that the N117/2400 turbine is specifically designed for low-wind conditions and will help maximize the site's potential.
The electricity produced by the project will be deployed by Usinas y Trasmisiones Electricas, Uruguay's state power company, under a 20-year power purchase agreement with Akuo Energy.
